The Resilient Wheaty, After The Storm by Karen Lavender

ARTIST NOTES: The wonderfully clever people at the Wheatsheath Hotel bounced back from the covid closures with a livestreamed gig series on Facebook.'Wheaty Live' was a way for the pub to continue to offer financial support to musicians, mainly through public donations and beer at first! The pub didn't make a profit from these live streams but it sure helped to keep morale high for the community and the musicians alike. This allowed the pub to bounce back once restrictions started to ease and they could increase the capacity for the live gigs.

ARTIST BIO

I love to create art with emotion and texture. I use lots of different materials when working, such as craft papers, fabrics, acrylic paints, watercolour paints, pencils, pastels cardboard and anything else I feel will work.

While I do use brushes in some of my art I prefer to use unconventional implements, such as pieces of cardboard, paper, my fingers, knives, twigs, plastic sheets and anything else that I can get my hands on.

I have been away from the art scene for a few years due to personal reasons but now I have a wonderful studio in adelaide, SA and I like nothing better than experimenting and creating art.
